Introduction of Myself!

 Hello class, my name is Eli Gauldin, and I am currently a Junior at High Point University studying Strategic Communication with a minor in Marketing. My brother attended here along with my grandparents living 15 minutes away from campus, so I was able to make a decision to choose HPU for my college. If I had to choose three adjectives to describe myself as laid-back, thoughtful, and determined. I am born and raised in North Carolina, as I was born in Greensboro while growing up on the coast in a small seaside town called Southport. I enjoyed growing up there since I could go to the beach, however it did have some downsides. The population is very small consisting of mainly retired elderly people. In the winters, there is not much open so that limits doing activities around the area. Obviously, hurricanes and tropical storms have affected our area the past few years, destroying plenty of houses and beach front dunes. Growing up in Southport, some activities that I did was surfing, skateboarding, basketball, and soccer. During my high school days, I worked at a local restaurant bistro bussing tables. Working in a restaurant is a great learning experience for someone and really opens your eyes on what goes behind the scenes in a business. A favorite memory of mine was partaking in the daily Surf Off on Oak Island with my friends. Every year on labor day, the city would have a surf competition for all ages. Some years it got pushed back to November and I can remember being in the water with no wetsuit in 35-degree weather. While in college, I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching and playing sports, and listening to music daily. Due to my surroundings while growing up, I see myself at some point of my life living near some sort of body of water, preferably the beach. Of course, when I am young I will most likely be traveling to new places (cities)  and living there due to work. Currently, I still don’t have an exact idea of what I will be doing for a living, but I have been attempting to find internships relating to my fields of study for the summer of 2021. Marketing internships for a company in the field of  software, financials, and sports are all opportunities that I would love to take. Thanks for reading my post, have a great rest of your day!
